Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar has received the award for Serie A’s best goalkeeper for the second consecutive season at the Gran Galà del Calcio in Milan.
Mile Svilar has once again been recognized as the best goalkeeper in Serie A.
For the second consecutive year, the Roma number one received the award at the Gran Galà del Calcio in Milan, an event celebrating the leading performers from the previous season.
The recognition further underlines Svilar’s importance to Roma after another impressive campaign between the posts.
Svilar Grateful After Winning Second Award
Svilar expressed his appreciation after receiving the award while also acknowledging the quality of the other goalkeepers competing in Serie A.
“There are other strong goalkeepers as well, but I am happy and grateful to be here again,” Svilar said.
The Belgian-born Serbian international has established himself as one of Roma’s most reliable players and remains a central figure in Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
He has also started the new campaign strongly, keeping clean sheets in Roma’s victories over Fiorentina and Lecce. Svilar played an important role at the Via del Mare, making a vital save during a Lecce counterattack as the Giallorossi secured a 4-0 victory.
Svilar Remains Cautious Over Roma’s Scudetto Ambitions
Roma’s perfect start has increased excitement around the club, but Svilar refused to look too far ahead when asked about a potential challenge for the Serie A title.
“Step by step,” he said. “We are only at the beginning. We will do our work and then we will see.”
Roma have collected six points from their opening two matches, scoring eight goals without conceding.
The early results have generated optimism, but Svilar’s response reflected the squad’s determination to remain focused as the schedule becomes more demanding.
Svilar Praises Second Season With Gasperini
Svilar also discussed his relationship with Gasperini and the benefits of entering a second season under the Roma coach.
“Working with Gasperini is wonderful,” Svilar said. “We have already been together for a year, and I think this season will be even better.”
The continuity between the goalkeeper and his coach could be important as Roma prepare to compete in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.
