The new Lazio striker has already turned his attention toward facing Roma after completing his move from Sassuolo.
Andrea Pinamonti is officially a Lazio player. The Biancocelesti completed the signing of the former Sassuolo striker after the departures of Boulaye Dia and Petar Ratkov.
Pinamonti was introduced to the media on Wednesday morning and discussed his decision to join Lazio, his personal objectives and the prospect of playing in the Derby della Capitale.
Pinamonti Looks Forward to Facing Roma
The 27-year-old admitted that he is already eagerly anticipating his first Rome derby as a Lazio player.
“I can’t wait for it to arrive,” Pinamonti said. “As a player, there will be different pressures. I can’t wait for that moment to come so that I can enjoy it fully.”
The striker will enter the derby with an impressive personal record against Roma, having scored five goals across 14 Serie A appearances against the Giallorossi.
His most recent goal against Roma arrived in March 2023, when Sassuolo recorded a dramatic 4-3 victory at the Stadio Olimpico.
Pinamonti Explains Lazio Decision
Pinamonti also explained why he decided to accept Lazio’s offer following his departure from Sassuolo.
“Lazio are a historic club, and that is why I chose to come here,” he said. “I haven’t set any particular objectives because I always try to improve.
“I want to improve on what I achieved last season and help the team.”
His arrival gives Lazio another option at centre-forward following the departures of Dia and Ratkov.
Rome Derby Rivalry Awaits New Chapter
Pinamonti’s comments add another element to the rivalry between the two capital clubs ahead of their first meeting of the season.
Roma have started their campaign with consecutive 4-0 victories, including an emphatic away win against Lecce.
That impressive opening has increased optimism around Gian Piero Gasperini’s team, with Francesco Totti recently suggesting that Roma could compete with Inter, Napoli and Juventus.
Pinamonti will now hope to make an immediate impact for Lazio before experiencing the pressure and atmosphere of the Derby della Capitale for the first time in Biancoceleste colors.
