The Brazilian attacker is officially a free agent following the mutual termination of his Fenerbahçe contract—but would he represent the right opportunity for Roma?
Anderson Talisca has become one of the most prominent players available on the free-agent market after officially leaving Fenerbahçe.
The Turkish club confirmed that the 32-year-old’s contract had been terminated by mutual consent, allowing him to join another team without a transfer fee.
“Anderson Talisca, who joined the team during the 2024/25 mid-season break, has had his contract terminated by mutual consent,” Fenerbahçe announced.
“We wish Talisca success in the next stage of his career.”
Talisca Becomes a Free-Agent Opportunity
Talisca offers extensive experience and an impressive goalscoring record despite primarily operating as an attacking midfielder.
The Brazilian scored 19 goals and supplied four assists in 30 Süper Lig appearances for Fenerbahçe last season. Across his entire league spell with the Turkish club, he registered 29 goals and five assists in 47 appearances.
Talisca is left-footed and can play behind the striker, as a centre-forward or from the right side of the attack. At 1.90 metres tall, he would also provide Roma with a different physical and aerial presence in the final third.
His ability from long range and direct free kicks would give Gian Piero Gasperini another potential source of goals.
Why Talisca Could Interest Roma
Roma finished the summer transfer window without signing the additional versatile attacker requested by Gasperini.
Sporting director Tony D’Amico subsequently confirmed that the Giallorossi would evaluate the free-agent market after admitting that the squad remained slightly short.
Talisca’s versatility would allow him to provide cover for Paulo Dybala, Donyell Malen and Santiago Castro. His experience could also be valuable for a squad competing across Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.
Roma are expected to discuss the available options during a transfer meeting at Trigoria focused on free agents and January targets.
There is currently no report that Roma have contacted Talisca or his representatives. He should therefore be considered a potential market opportunity rather than a confirmed target.
Why Talisca Is Not the Perfect Fit
Despite his quality, Talisca would not directly solve Roma’s most obvious tactical need.
Gasperini wanted another attacker capable of operating from the left, beating defenders in one-on-one situations and covering the entire flank when necessary. Talisca is more naturally suited to playing centrally or cutting inside from the right.
His ability to meet the defensive and pressing demands of Gasperini’s system would also require careful evaluation.
The financial conditions could present another obstacle. Although no transfer fee would be required, Roma would still need to consider his salary expectations, agent commissions and any signing bonus.
A free transfer is only attractive if the complete financial package remains compatible with the wage limits imposed by Roma’s UEFA settlement agreement.
Champions League Registration Complicates Potential Move
Roma have already submitted their 24-man squad for the Champions League league phase.
Talisca is not included on that list, meaning a potential signing would not immediately provide Gasperini with another registered option for the European campaign. His future eligibility would depend on UEFA’s registration regulations and any later opportunity to update the squad.
Roma must therefore decide whether signing him primarily for domestic competition would still justify the financial commitment.
Talisca Would Be an Opportunity, Not the Missing Winger
Talisca would be an intriguing short-term addition if he were prepared to accept a reasonable, incentive-based contract.
His goalscoring record, technical ability and versatility could strengthen Roma’s attacking rotation without requiring a transfer fee. However, his age, salary expectations, physical record and tactical profile prevent him from being considered an ideal solution.
He would add another dangerous goalscorer, but he is not the natural left winger Roma pursued throughout the summer.

Talisca is worth evaluating as an opportunistic signing, but Roma should avoid compromising their wage structure for a player who does not precisely address the position Gasperini still wants to strengthen.
