Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico has given his account to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office following the reported confrontation with Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi after Saturday’s match.
The incident allegedly occurred as D’Amico was leaving the Stadio Olimpico following Roma’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Atalanta.
According to the initial reconstruction, Percassi followed his former colleague and repeatedly directed insults toward him. D’Amico reportedly avoided responding before security personnel intervened.
Roma publicly supported D’Amico
Roma issued an official statement the following day expressing its “full support” for D’Amico.
The club described Percassi’s reported conduct as “unacceptable” and praised its sporting director for avoiding any reaction. Roma also confirmed that it would refer the incident to the appropriate sporting justice authorities.
Atalanta subsequently rejected Roma’s assessment of its chief executive’s behavior. The Bergamo club said it did not want to continue discussing the matter publicly and expressed its willingness to cooperate with the sporting authorities.
The contrasting positions ensured the confrontation would be examined formally rather than resolved through the clubs’ public statements.

D’Amico gives testimony at Trigoria
According to Il Tempo, D’Amico was questioned at Trigoria on Tuesday by representatives of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
The Roma director reportedly repeated the account that emerged immediately after the match: Percassi followed and insulted him several times while they were leaving the stadium, while D’Amico did not respond.
Percassi is expected to provide his own testimony in the coming days. Investigators could also consider statements from witnesses and security personnel who were present.
Once both directors have been heard, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office will determine whether further disciplinary action is necessary.
Possible consequences could include a temporary ban from performing official football duties for either or both executives. No disciplinary decision has yet been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The confrontation followed Roma’s stoppage-time victory over Atalanta, secured by late goals from Mario Hermoso and Matias Soulé.
