Roma wing-back Wesley playing for the Brazilian national team

Wesley Earns Brazil Call-Up for Australia and India Friendlies

Roma wing-back Wesley has been included in Carlo Ancelotti’s 26-man Brazil squad for three international friendlies against Australia and India.

Serie A will pause following Matchday 5 for an extended international break. Roma’s final match before the interruption will be the sold-out meeting with Inter at the Stadio Olimpico on September 19.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will return to action away to Como on October 11.

Wesley included in Brazil squad

Ancelotti has selected Wesley as part of his first Brazil squad following the 2026 World Cup.

The Roma player is one of nine defenders included in the 26-man group and will compete for an opportunity to feature during the three-match tour.

Wesley has started each of Roma’s opening three Serie A matches, helping the Giallorossi collect nine points and score 10 goals. His energy and attacking contribution from the left flank have made him an important part of Gasperini’s team.

The 23-year-old is also part of Roma’s travelling squad for the Champions League match against Fenerbahçe.

Brazil’s international schedule

Brazil will travel to Australia for two friendly matches before concluding the international period in India.

The Seleção’s schedule is:

  • September 25: Australia vs Brazil — Townsville
  • September 29: Australia vs Brazil — Brisbane
  • October 3: India vs Brazil — Kolkata

The final match will be the first senior international meeting between Brazil and India.

The three friendlies begin Brazil’s new cycle following the World Cup and will allow Ancelotti to assess several players ahead of future competitions.

Busy schedule awaits Roma

Wesley will have several important club fixtures before joining the national team.

Roma face Fenerbahçe in Istanbul on September 10 before travelling to Torino four days later. The Giallorossi then host Inter in an early meeting between the two teams that opened the Serie A season with perfect records.

The Roma vs Inter fixture is already sold out, with every available ticket purchased 10 days before kickoff.

Wesley could therefore play three demanding matches in nine days before beginning the long journey to join Brazil.
