Alessandro Di Nunzio celebrating his late goal for Roma Primavera against Como

Alessandro Di Nunzio scores late Roma Primavera equalizer after nearly earning senior call-up

Alessandro Di Nunzio went from potentially travelling with Roma’s first team to rescuing a point for the Primavera in the space of a few hours.

According to journalist Lorenzo Canicchio, the youth-team captain trained with Gian Piero Gasperini’s senior squad and would have travelled to Turin had Manu Koné been ruled out of the Serie A match against Torino.

However, Koné recovered from his knee discomfort and completed Roma’s final training session, allowing him to remain in the matchday squad.

Di Nunzio consequently stayed with Mattia Scala’s Primavera—and ultimately played a decisive role for his team.

Di Nunzio rescues Roma Primavera against Como

Roma appeared destined to suffer their first defeat of the season against Como, coached by former Giallorossi youth manager Gianluca Falsini.

Di Nunzio intervened late in the match, scoring the equalizer that secured a 1-1 draw and preserved Roma’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

It was another demonstration of the midfielder’s importance to Scala’s side. In addition to wearing the captain’s armband, Di Nunzio has established himself as one of the Primavera’s leading personalities and is beginning to attract attention from Gasperini’s senior staff.

His participation in first-team training—and the possibility that he could have been included for the Torino trip—represents an encouraging development in his progression.

Di Nunzio also started as Roma Primavera completed a remarkable 4-2 Youth League comeback against Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

Although the recovered Koné prevented him from joining the senior squad on this occasion, Di Nunzio responded in the best possible manner: by returning to the Primavera and delivering when his team needed him most.
