Gianluca Mancini will not travel with Italy for their upcoming Nations League match against Turkey in Bursa.
The national team coach has prepared individual training programmes for several members of the squad, with the Roma defender among the players left out of the travelling group.
Mancini Expected Back for Italy’s Next Matches
Mancini’s absence is not expected to extend beyond the trip to Bursa. The centre-back should return to the squad for Italy’s subsequent fixtures against Turkey in Bologna and France.
The decision will allow Mancini to follow a specific workload before returning to international action. Roma will also hope the programme helps the defender manage his fitness during a demanding period of club and international football.
The 30-year-old featured in Italy’s Nations League opener against Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico but will now sit out the national team’s first away match of the international break.
Roma Continue to Monitor Their International Players
Mancini is one of several Roma players currently away with their national teams. Gian Piero Gasperini and his staff will closely monitor their minutes and physical condition ahead of the Giallorossi’s return to Serie A action.
Barring any changes, Mancini will remain available to Italy for the remainder of the international programme following the match in Bursa.
