Gasperini played decisive role in Dybala’s Roma renewal

The Argentine accepted a reduced salary and rejected interest from Juventus and Napoli before extending his contract until 2027.

Paulo Dybala’s relationship with AS Roma is set to continue after the Argentine signed a new contract during the summer.

According to Gazzetta.it, Gian Piero Gasperini played a decisive role in securing the renewal. The Roma coach worked with both Dybala and the club to resolve negotiations that had remained stalled for several months.

The financial terms had represented one of the principal obstacles. Dybala reportedly accepted a significant reduction in salary before agreeing to a deal containing a fixed wage and bonuses linked to appearances, goals and assists. His new contract runs until 2027.

Gasperini’s confidence also influenced Dybala’s decision. The coach considers the forward an important part of his project and reportedly promised him that he would work to ensure an agreement was reached.

Juventus made an enquiry about Dybala’s contractual situation during the summer, but the 2022 World Cup winner reiterated his desire to remain with Roma. He gave priority to the Giallorossi and the commitment he had made to Gasperini.

Napoli also expressed interest and received a similar response. Dybala will now continue his career in the capital with a renewed contract and a central role in Gasperini’s plans.
