Roma completed another training session at Trigoria on Friday as Gian Piero Gasperini continued preparations for the club’s return to Serie A action against Como.
Roma published a gallery from the session on their official website, with sporting director Tony D’Amico pictured alongside Gasperini on the training pitch.
Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini were both involved, while Bryan Cristante, Donyell Malen and Wesley were not pictured working with the main group.
Cristante Could Miss Como and Real Madrid
Cristante’s condition currently represents the greatest concern for Roma.
The midfielder is dealing with a problem in his knee, described by reports as inflammation or discomfort following a training-ground knock. His availability for the October 11 trip to Como is now considered doubtful.
Cristante could also be at risk of missing Roma’s Champions League meeting with Real Madrid, scheduled at the Stadio Olimpico only three days later.
Roma’s medical staff will continue assessing the knee before establishing a clearer recovery timetable. No official diagnosis or expected period of absence has yet been announced by the club.
Cristante has been one of Gasperini’s most frequently used players during the opening weeks of the season, making his potential absence particularly significant ahead of a demanding run of matches.
Marten de Roon and Niccolò Pisilli would be among the leading candidates to partner Manu Koné in midfield if Cristante is unavailable.
Malen and Wesley Continue Individual Work
Malen and Wesley also remained outside the main group as they continued personalized training programs.
Their conditions are not believed to be as concerning as Cristante’s. Both players are reportedly progressing toward a return and are expected to increase their workload over the coming days.
Malen has been recovering from physical discomfort after withdrawing from the Netherlands squad, while Wesley remained at Trigoria because of a muscular issue.
Roma will avoid unnecessary risks with either player, particularly with seven matches scheduled between October 11 and the end of the month.
Dybala and Pellegrini Train Regularly
Dybala and Pellegrini were both pictured training normally during Friday’s session.
The two attacking midfielders are using the international break to improve their physical condition and strengthen their cases for a larger role against Como.
Pellegrini has yet to play this season after completing a lengthy recovery, while Dybala will hope to build on his encouraging start and maintain his fitness ahead of the Champions League match against Real Madrid.
Roma still have more than a week to prepare for the visit to the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. Recovering Cristante, Malen and Wesley will remain the principal focus for Gasperini and his medical staff.
