Como are increasingly optimistic that Moise Kean will recover in time to face Roma on Sunday at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
The Italian forward left the national-team camp early after suffering muscular fatigue and did not feature in the second Nations League match against Turkey.
Kean’s condition will continue to be evaluated over the coming days, but early indications suggest the problem is not serious.
Kean Could Recover in Time for Roma
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Como’s medical staff are proceeding cautiously with Kean, although confidence is growing that he can become available for the match against Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
The forward received several physical blows during Italy’s game against Belgium before playing through discomfort in the subsequent draw with France.
Once it became clear that he would not be able to face Turkey, Italy released him from the squad and allowed him to begin his recovery with Como.
No definitive decision has been made regarding Sunday’s match, but the muscular fatigue is not currently expected to keep him out for an extended period.
His return would provide Cesc Fàbregas with an important attacking option for one of Como’s most demanding matches of the season.
Nico Paz Returning to Como
Fàbregas is also waiting for Nico Paz to return from international duty with Argentina.
The playmaker is expected back at Como’s training base on Thursday after participating in Lionel Messi’s farewell match. Despite the intercontinental journey and limited preparation time, Fàbregas has already expressed confidence that Paz will be available against Roma.
Kean’s condition therefore appears to be the principal fitness question surrounding Como before Sunday’s lunchtime kickoff.
Roma Await Final Internationals
Roma will also welcome their final returning internationals on Thursday.
Matías Soulé, Leonardo Balerdi and Santiago Castro are due back at Trigoria following their commitments with Argentina. Their long journey and short recovery period may influence Gasperini’s team selection.
All three could begin the match on the bench, with the Roma coach favouring players who spent the international break working in the capital.
Paulo Dybala and Nahuel Molina remained at Trigoria, while Donyell Malen and Wesley have resumed partial work with the group. Lorenzo Pellegrini is also pushing for his first start of the season.
As both squads gradually return to full strength, Kean’s progress will remain one of the most important storylines before Como and Roma meet on Sunday at 12:30 CET.
