Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch linked with a transfer to Roma

Roma Join Race for Stuttgart Defender Finn Jeltsch

Roma have reportedly added Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch to their list of potential defensive reinforcements.

Although more than two months remain before the January transfer window, Tony D’Amico is already evaluating young players who could strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.

According to Fussball Europa, Roma scouts are monitoring Jeltsch’s development in the Bundesliga. The Giallorossi will, however, face significant competition for the highly rated German prospect.

Who Is Finn Jeltsch?

Born in 2006, Jeltsch is a young central defender currently playing for Stuttgart. He is regarded as one of Germany’s most promising defensive talents due to his physical qualities, composure in possession and ability to play the ball out from the back.

Jeltsch was called into the German national-team setup by Jürgen Klopp for the Nations League, although he did not make his senior international debut.

Klopp praised the defender’s qualities during the training camp.

“He possesses extraordinary athletic qualities and knows how to strike the ball,” the Germany coach said.

His profile appears compatible with Gasperini’s approach. Roma’s coach requires his central defenders to be aggressive when stepping out of the back line, comfortable defending in space and capable of contributing during the build-up phase.

Roma Face Major Competition for Jeltsch

Roma are not alone in following Jeltsch. Barcelona, Inter and Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring the defender, creating considerable competition for his signature.

The presence of several leading European clubs could make a January agreement difficult, particularly if Stuttgart are reluctant to lose the player during the season.

Roma’s interest nevertheless reflects the club’s strategy under D’Amico. The sporting director has consistently monitored talented young players who can contribute immediately while retaining significant development and resale potential.

It remains unclear whether Roma intend to make a formal approach in January or continue following Jeltsch ahead of a possible summer move. For now, the German defender is one of several emerging prospects under consideration as the club plans for the future of Gasperini’s back line.
