Roma continued preparations for Sunday’s Serie A match against Como with another training session at the Fulvio Bernardini Sports Centre.
Gian Piero Gasperini put his players through their work in a relaxed atmosphere at Trigoria as the Giallorossi prepare to return to competitive action following the international break.
Roma visit Cesc Fàbregas’ Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Sunday, October 11, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 CEST.
Balerdi, Soulé and Castro Rejoin Roma Squad
The main development from Thursday’s session was the full return of Leonardo Balerdi, Matias Soulé and Santiago Castro.
The three Argentines completed recovery work on Wednesday after returning from international duty but were able to train normally alongside their teammates during the latest session.
Gasperini can therefore begin assessing their condition before making his final selection for the trip to Como. Their involvement from the opening minute remains uncertain due to the limited preparation time available following their return from Argentina.
Soulé played 45 minutes during the international window, while Balerdi accumulated 79 and Castro featured for only 21. Their relatively limited workloads could improve their chances of being involved on Sunday, although Gasperini will make the final decision after the remaining training sessions.
Cristante Remains Unavailable
With Roma’s international players now back at Trigoria, Gasperini can work with an almost complete squad. Bryan Cristante remains the notable exception as he continues to recover from inflammation in his knee.
The midfielder’s availability against Como remains doubtful, leaving Gasperini to consider alternative partnerships in the centre of the pitch.
Roma CEO Galantic was also present at Trigoria and watched the training session from the sidelines.
The Giallorossi will continue preparing for the match over the next two days, with Gasperini scheduled to hold his pre-match press conference on Saturday.
Gasperini Faces Selection Decisions
The return of Balerdi, Soulé and Castro gives Gasperini additional options, but managing the players coming back from international duty will be essential.
Roma face Real Madrid in the Champions League only three days after visiting Como, followed by another Serie A fixture against Genoa. The demanding schedule could encourage Gasperini to rotate his lineup and carefully distribute minutes across his squad.
