Cristante Could Start Against Napoli as Pisilli Emerges as Attacking Option

Bryan Cristante could return to Roma’s starting line-up against Napoli, with his availability potentially allowing Gian Piero Gasperini to move Niccolò Pisilli into a more advanced role.

According to Corriere della Sera, Cristante’s inclusion is the main selection question ahead of Saturday’s trip to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Roma remain without Mile Svilar, Manu Koné, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala, leaving Gasperini with limited options but several possible adjustments.

Cristante’s Return Could Push Pisilli Forward

After returning to the matchday squad in the Champions League, Cristante could now start alongside Marten de Roon in central midfield.

That pairing would free Pisilli to move forward and support Donyell Malen alongside Matías Soulé.

The arrangement could also allow Gasperini to keep Rodrigo Mora on the bench, preserving an attacking option to introduce during the match. With Dybala and Pellegrini unavailable, managing those alternatives could influence the coach’s starting choices.

The reshuffle remains a possibility rather than a confirmed decision, with Cristante’s readiness central to the plan.

Lulli and Molina Compete for Right-Wing Role

There is also a decision to make on the right flank, where Emanuele Lulli and Nahuel Molina are competing for a starting place. Wesley is expected to occupy the left side.

In defence, the report points to the return of Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka and Mario Hermoso ahead of Pierluigi Gollini, who continues in goal during Svilar’s absence.

Roma’s Possible Line-Up Against Napoli

Roma (3-4-2-1): Gollini; Mancini, Ndicka, Hermoso; Molina, Cristante, De Roon, Wesley; Pisilli, Soulé; Malen.

This projected line-up depends on Gasperini choosing to start Cristante.
