Massimiliano Allegri during Napoli against Roma

Allegri Furious After Roma Draw: “I’m Too Angry to Analyse the Match”

Massimiliano Allegri expressed his frustration after Napoli’s 3–3 draw with Roma, disputing his dismissal while praising his players’ performance at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli surrendered a two-goal lead before moving ahead again, only for Leonardo Balerdi’s second goal to secure a point for the Giallorossi.

Allegri Disputes His Sending-Off

Asked about the closing stages and his reaction, Allegri insisted he had done nothing to warrant being dismissed.

“The fourth official called the referee and he sent me off. I didn’t do anything. Next time I won’t move anymore; every time I do, I get sent off. Apparently, I have to stop.

“You see others going berserk and coming onto the pitch, and nothing happens to them. I congratulate the players.”

The Napoli coach later acknowledged his anger over how the match had ended.

“Tonight I’m very angry about the end of the match. Once every 25 years, I’m allowed to make a mistake too.”

“Roma Are Strong”

Despite conceding three times, Allegri defended Napoli’s work without the ball and took encouragement from their approach.

“Tonight we played well defensively. Roma are strong, and we also had the chance to go two goals ahead. Playing with this spirit, we will climb the table.”

Asked whether his football had become less defensive, he replied:

“I’ve changed the way I play. I want to play every game on the attack. If I can, I’ll even put four forwards on.”

Support for Højlund, Checks for Badiashile

Allegri also backed Rasmus Højlund despite the striker’s missed opportunities.

“He had some good chances. He played well, but it wasn’t easy. The goals will come.”

On Benoît Badiashile’s condition, he offered a brief update:

“We will assess him over the next 48 hours.”

Asked whether the result left the glass half-full or half-empty, Allegri declined to offer a measured verdict.

“You tell me… tonight I’m not clear-headed enough to comment and give assessments of the match.”

Reports of Further Remarks Before Press Conference

According to the account published by Giallorossi.net, citing multiple media reports, Allegri allegedly made further angry remarks shortly before entering the press conference room:

“Last year they handed them the Champions League on a plate. Always them…”

The report interprets the comment as a reference to Roma’s qualification for the competition last season. However, that interpretation and the alleged remark should be distinguished from his clearly attributed post-match answers: no recording or fuller context was included in the supplied account.
