Paulo Dybala training at Trigoria

Dybala trains on Roma’s day off as he targets Manchester United return

Paulo Dybala is working at Trigoria even on Roma’s day off as he pushes to be available for the Champions League clash against Manchester United.

According to Francesco “Checco” Casano, the Argentine’s omission from the squad for Tuesday’s victory over Cagliari was a precautionary decision recommended by the medical staff. The report states that Dybala has not suffered a setback.

Dybala determined to make Manchester trip

While his teammates have a day off following the 4–2 win over Cagliari, Dybala is continuing his recovery work at Roma’s training ground.

The Argentine is determined to return for the European trip to Manchester, although his availability remains uncertain. His work at Trigoria reflects that ambition rather than confirmation that he will be ready to play.

Casano’s update offers some encouragement after Dybala missed the Cagliari match despite earlier hopes that he could return to the bench.

Cagliari absence was precautionary

According to the report, Roma’s medical staff advised against including Dybala against Cagliari as a precaution, with no relapse reported.

That distinction is important: the Argentine’s continued absence does not necessarily indicate a new injury, but he still needs to complete his recovery before returning to competitive action.

Gasperini remains cautious over return date

The update follows Gian Piero Gasperini’s comments after the Cagliari victory, when the coach ruled Dybala out of the trip to Udinese and suggested Sassuolo as a tentative target for both him and Manu Koné.

“We thought that would be enough, but he still hasn’t recovered, and that forces us to take things as they come.

“We put forward hypothetical dates — let’s say Sassuolo for him and Koné — and we’ll see whether that will be possible.”

Dybala is therefore aiming to beat that cautious timetable by making himself available for Manchester United. For now, however, that remains the player’s objective rather than a confirmed return date.
