Paulo Dybala has reportedly recovered from his muscle injury, but lingering discomfort and a cautious approach are continuing to delay his return for Roma.
According to Il Tempo, the Argentine underwent physiotherapy at Trigoria on Wednesday and will be assessed on a day-to-day basis.
The report suggests that, from a clinical standpoint, Dybala could be available against Udinese. However, his involvement remains uncertain, with how he feels physically still an important consideration.
Dybala assessed day by day
Il Tempo reports that the muscle lesion has healed, but Dybala continues to experience some discomfort.
That distinction is central to his situation: recovery from the injury does not automatically mean the player feels ready to return to competitive action.
Roma are therefore continuing to monitor his condition rather than working towards a guaranteed comeback date. Wednesday’s physiotherapy session formed part of that ongoing recovery process.
Udinese availability remains uncertain
The latest report offers a more encouraging assessment of Dybala’s clinical condition, but it does not confirm his inclusion in the squad for Udinese.
It also follows Gian Piero Gasperini’s comments after the Cagliari victory, when the coach ruled the Argentine out of the trip and suggested Sassuolo as a tentative return target.
“We thought that would be enough, but he still hasn’t recovered, and that forces us to take things as they come.
“We put forward hypothetical dates — let’s say Sassuolo for him and Koné — and we’ll see whether that will be possible.”
Il Tempo’s update does not amount to a revised availability announcement from the club. Instead, it suggests that the remaining uncertainty centres on discomfort, caution and the player’s readiness to compete.
Roma await Dybala’s next step
Dybala’s condition remains one of the key issues for Roma as they navigate a demanding run of fixtures.
For now, the encouraging element is the reported healing of the original injury. The next step is determining when the Argentine feels sufficiently comfortable to return to action.
Until then, his availability will continue to be evaluated day by day.
