Roma await further medical results on Jayden Oosterwolde while exploring Franck Kessié, preparing another Jamie Bynoe-Gittens attempt and discussing Jan Ziolkowski’s future.
Roma’s final week of the summer transfer window continues to produce uncertainty, with incoming and outgoing moves closely connected.
The most immediate decision concerns Jayden Oosterwolde, while the Giallorossi are also evaluating Franck Kessié, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Malick Fofana.
Oosterwolde set for further examinations
Roma will conduct additional medical examinations on Oosterwolde on Wednesday before deciding whether to complete his transfer from Fenerbahçe.
According to Nicolò Schira, Roma could either proceed or abandon the operation depending on the results. Matteo Moretto reports that the club want complete assurances regarding the defender’s physical condition, although the expectation from the player’s side is that the move will be completed.
Roma have already agreed a loan deal with Fenerbahçe containing a conditional obligation to buy.
However, the Giallorossi are exercising considerable caution before registering the Dutch defender.
Roma explore Kessié opportunity
Roma are considering a move for Franck Kessié as they evaluate a potential midfield change.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Neil El Aynaoui could leave if Roma complete the signing of Kessié, with several clubs interested in the Moroccan international.
According to Attilio Malena, Roma have studied the operation for several months, examined its financial conditions and hold Kessié in particularly high regard.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Kessié continues to prioritize the Italian clubs interested in him despite pressure from Al-Ittihad. Roma have not reached an agreement, but the situation is expected to develop during the closing days of the window.
Another attempt expected for Gittens
Roma are preparing another attempt to sign Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Chelsea.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the English winger remains a leading target despite Chelsea’s refusal to sanction a loan departure. The Giallorossi are expected to make a final effort to determine whether the Premier League club’s position can change.
Malick Fofana remains an alternative. Roma could return for the Lyon winger if the French club are eliminated from the Champions League qualifying playoffs.
Fofana has already reached an agreement with Roma’s management over personal terms, but the Giallorossi have yet to approve the investment required by Lyon.
Monza lead race for Ziolkowski
Roma increasingly view a loan to Monza as the ideal solution for Jan Ziolkowski.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Giallorossi want the Polish defender to gain regular playing time in a tactical system similar to Gian Piero Gasperini’s while retaining control of his future.
Further talks with Monza are scheduled for Wednesday. Parma, Sassuolo, Bournemouth and other clubs have also shown interest, although an exceptional permanent offer may be required to persuade Roma to sell.
Final week remains open
Roma’s remaining business could depend on several interconnected decisions.
The outcome of Oosterwolde’s examinations will influence the club’s plans on the flanks, while a Kessié deal could open the door for El Aynaoui’s departure. Chelsea’s response on Gittens and Lyon’s European result may then determine whether Roma can add the attacking winger Gasperini still wants.
