When Matias Soulé scores, Roma rarely leave empty-handed. The Argentine once again delivered against Atalanta, scoring the decisive goal in a dramatic 2-1 comeback at the Stadio Olimpico.
Matias Soulé is quickly developing a reputation as one of Roma’s most decisive players.
His stoppage-time winner against Atalanta was only the latest example of the Argentine delivering when the Giallorossi needed him most. After Mario Hermoso equalized in the 89th minute, Soulé completed the turnaround and secured another three points for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
Soulé’s Goals Have Consistently Produced Points
Soulé finished the 2024/25 Serie A season with five goals, four of which directly influenced Roma’s results.
He scored the only goals in 1-0 victories over Parma, Empoli and Inter, earning Roma nine points. His equalizer in the Derby della Capitale against Lazio added another point to the total.
Those four goals were therefore directly connected to 10 league points during his first season with Roma.
His influence increased during the following campaign. Soulé opened the scoring in victories over Rangers, Pisa, Fiorentina and Cremonese before finding the breakthrough against Genoa in a match Roma eventually won 3-1.

The trend has continued at the beginning of the new season.
With Roma still trailing late against Atalanta, Soulé delivered the corner from which Hermoso scored the equalizer. The Argentine then completed the sensational comeback with the winning goal in stoppage time.
Soulé finished the match with one goal and one assist despite beginning on the bench. He also attempted seven shots—more than Atalanta managed as an entire team—and was deservedly recognized as the standout performer by the Italian newspapers.
His latest decisive goal added another three points to the running total.
