Roma’s restructuring of their youth department continues with Edoardo Pane joining the club as technical coordinator and the new right-hand man of academy chief Massimo Margiotta.
Roma have reportedly appointed Edoardo Pane as the new technical coordinator of their youth academy.
According to journalist Lorenzo Canicchio, Pane will work closely with Massimo Margiotta, who became the head of Roma’s youth sector during the summer.
The appointment represents another important step in the Giallorossi’s ongoing effort to restructure their academy and strengthen the pathway between its different age groups.
Pane to work alongside Massimo Margiotta
In his new position, Pane is expected to help organize the work conducted across Roma’s youth teams while promoting a consistent technical approach throughout the academy.
He will serve as an important collaborator for Margiotta, who officially joined Roma in July after spending nine years as the head of Hellas Verona’s youth department.
Margiotta was appointed to oversee Roma’s entire academy structure and coordinate the development of the club’s young players. Pane’s arrival gives him an experienced figure capable of assisting with the daily management of that project.
Roma continue academy restructuring
Pane’s appointment follows the arrival of Jacopo Gobbetti, another former member of the Hellas Verona organization.
Gobbetti has reportedly joined Roma as the academy’s head of scouting, placing him in charge of identifying and evaluating young talent for the club.
Roma also strengthened their youth ranks during the closing stages of the summer transfer window by completing moves for Lorenzo Paratici and Ante Mardesic. The two additions were part of a broader attempt to recruit promising players for the future.

Pane brings significant youth football experience
Pane arrives at Roma following several roles within Italian youth football.
His previous experience includes work with Tor Tre Teste, Ascoli and Bologna. That background has allowed him to operate at both grassroots and professional academy levels.
His responsibilities at Roma will include supporting the organization of the club’s youth teams, helping establish a common technical direction and accompanying the development of players progressing through the academy.
The objective will be to ensure that Roma continue producing footballers capable of eventually reaching Gian Piero Gasperini’s first team.
Roma place renewed emphasis on academy pathway
Emanuele Lulli’s emergence has offered a recent example of the value Roma can obtain from their academy.
The young wing-back impressed Gasperini during preseason, earned a place in the senior squad and started Roma’s opening three Serie A matches. The club are now planning to extend Lulli’s contract until 2031.
Antonio Arena, Giorgio De Marzi and other academy graduates have also been included in the senior setup during the opening weeks of the campaign.
The appointments of Margiotta, Gobbetti and Pane indicate that Roma are investing not only in individual prospects but also in the structure responsible for identifying and developing them.
Pane will now become a central figure in that project as Roma’s youth academy enters a new organizational phase.
