Matias Soulé celebrating a goal for Roma after recovering from pubalgia

Inside Matias Soulé’s Intensive Recovery From Pubalgia

Matias Soulé reportedly trained for up to seven hours a day during the summer as he worked to overcome pubalgia and prepare for Gian Piero Gasperini’s demanding Roma preseason.

The Argentine has emerged as one of Roma’s early-season protagonists after enduring a difficult summer dominated by injury rehabilitation and transfer speculation.

Soulé refused to allow either situation to derail his preparations. Instead, the 23-year-old committed himself to an extensive recovery program designed to ensure he returned without any lingering physical problems.

Soulé transformed his home into a recovery center

According to Corriere dello Sport, Soulé equipped his home in Casal Palocco with several pieces of advanced rehabilitation and recovery equipment.

His daily routine was divided between treatment sessions with Roma’s physiotherapists at Trigoria and additional work at home coordinated by his personal trainer, Viggiano.

The program reportedly included the use of a hyperbaric chamber, a diamagnetic pump designed to reduce the bone edema around his pubic area and Pilates exercises.

Soulé dedicated between six and seven hours per day to his rehabilitation and physical preparation as he attempted to overcome the pubalgia that had interrupted his previous campaign.

Soulé worked to meet Gasperini’s physical demands

The winger returned for Roma’s preseason training camp on July 13 without any remaining effects from the injury.

He was not initially at the fitness level demanded by Gasperini’s strict physical standards, however, after spending an extended period away from regular team training.

Soulé responded by working intensively during the opening preseason sessions. He quickly lost weight, recovered his acceleration and gradually convinced Gasperini that he was ready to compete for an important role.

The coach was already familiar with Soulé’s qualities after selecting him in 34 consecutive matches across Serie A and cup competitions before the player’s pubalgia forced him out of action.

Transfer speculation never changed Soulé’s intentions

Soulé’s recovery unfolded while his future became the subject of repeated transfer rumors.

The Argentine was linked with clubs in the Premier League, Saudi Arabia and the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund reportedly made an enquiry, but Roma did not receive a concrete offer capable of creating an advanced negotiation.

According to another report from Corriere dello Sport, Soulé never asked to leave Roma and always considered himself part of Gasperini’s project.

His objective throughout the summer was to recover completely, regain his best physical condition and earn his opportunity in the Italian capital.

Hard work rewarded against Atalanta

Soulé’s commitment produced its most memorable reward during Roma’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Atalanta.

Introduced during the second half, he assisted Mario Hermoso’s 90th-minute equalizer from a corner before scoring the winning goal in stoppage time.

Soulé beat his defender, shifted the ball onto his left foot and placed a composed finish into the far corner, completing Roma’s remarkable comeback and sending the Stadio Olimpico into celebration.

The goal was his second in consecutive Serie A appearances and reinforced his growing importance within Gasperini’s attack.

After months of rehabilitation, demanding individual work and questions about his future, Soulé has begun the season by demonstrating both his technical quality and his determination to succeed at Roma.
