Matias Soulé never requested a transfer away from Roma and remained determined to continue his development under Gian Piero Gasperini, according to a new report.
Soulé spent several weeks at the center of transfer speculation during the summer, with reports suggesting Roma could consider selling him to generate a significant capital gain.
His decisive performance against Atalanta has now placed the discussion surrounding his future in a very different light. The Argentine created Roma’s equalizer before scoring the stoppage-time winner in a dramatic 2-1 victory.
Soulé always wanted to remain at Roma
According to Corriere dello Sport, Soulé never asked Roma to sell him and consistently expressed his desire to remain in the Italian capital.
Despite numerous rumors throughout the transfer window, the 23-year-old reportedly received no concrete offers from Saudi Arabia or the Premier League.
