Roma reportedly submitted an offer worth up to €43 million for Luiz Henrique during the closing stages of the summer transfer window, but Zenit rejected the proposal.
The Giallorossi spent the final days of the transfer window attempting to add another winger to Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad. Among the numerous profiles considered, Luiz Henrique emerged as one of Roma’s most concrete targets.
Zenit rejected Roma’s Luiz Henrique offer
According to ESPN Brasil, Roma offered Zenit €38 million plus €5 million in bonuses for the Brazilian winger.
The Russian club reportedly rejected the proposal, despite its potential total value reaching €43 million. Zenit also turned down an offer of approximately €45 million from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
Brazilian clubs Botafogo and Flamengo were also credited with interest in Luiz Henrique, but neither managed to secure his departure from Zenit.
Luiz Henrique remains a potential January target
Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico previously confirmed that the club encountered technical problems while attempting to complete a deal for Luiz Henrique.
The former Botafogo attacker consequently remained in Russia, while Roma later pursued an unsuccessful deadline-day move for Jamie Leweling.
Despite the summer deal falling through, Luiz Henrique reportedly remains on Roma’s radar ahead of January. Gasperini is still missing the right-footed winger he wanted to complete his attacking options, meaning the Brazilian’s name could return during the winter transfer window.
