Fabio Maresca will referee Roma’s Serie A meeting with Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Monday, September 14.
The Matchday 4 fixture is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM CEST, or 12:30 PM ET, as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side look to extend their perfect start to the league campaign.
Gianluca Aureliano will oversee VAR during the match.
Roma’s Serie A record with Maresca
Maresca has refereed Roma on 19 previous occasions in Serie A, making the Giallorossi the third-most frequently officiated team of his top-flight career.
Roma’s record in those matches is:
- Eight victories
- Five draws
- Six defeats
The Giallorossi have won their last two Serie A matches with Maresca in charge.
His most recent Roma assignment came in last season’s Derby della Capitale, which Gasperini’s side won 2-0 through a brace from Gianluca Mancini.
Maresca sent off both Wesley and Nicolò Rovella in the 70th minute of that match.
Maresca’s disciplinary record in Roma matches
Maresca has shown four red cards to Roma players across his 19 Serie A matches involving the club. Roma’s opponents have also received four dismissals.
The referee has issued:

He has awarded Roma two penalties. Jordan Veretout converted the first against Hellas Verona during the 2019/20 season, while Paulo Dybala scored the second against Spezia in 2022/23.
Only one penalty has been awarded against Roma in Maresca’s Serie A assignments. Franck Kessié converted it for Milan in October 2021.
Previous Roma vs Torino match under Maresca
Maresca has previously refereed only one Serie A match between Roma and Torino.
That meeting took place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on March 9, 2018, and ended in a 3-0 victory for the Giallorossi.
Kostas Manolas, Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored Roma’s goals.
Monday’s fixture will therefore be Maresca’s first time refereeing a Serie A meeting between the clubs in Turin.
Torino’s record with Maresca
Maresca has taken charge of 15 Torino matches in Serie A.
The Granata possess a positive record under the Naples-born official:

- Three draws
- Five defeats
Torino’s most recent match with Maresca ended in a 4-1 victory over Parma. That result ended a run of five consecutive assignments without a win for the Granata.
Torino players have received 33 yellow cards and one red card in Maresca’s matches. Their opponents have collected 43 yellow cards and two dismissals.
The referee has also awarded Torino two penalties and given one against them.
Roma’s record with Aureliano on VAR
Aureliano has been involved as the VAR official in 26 Roma matches, producing a record of:
- 14 Roma victories
- Four draws
- Eight defeats
The Giallorossi have not won with Aureliano on VAR since their 2-1 victory over Parma on October 29, 2025.
Roma have since recorded two defeats and one draw across three matches with Aureliano operating from the VAR room.
His most recent assignment came during Roma’s 5-2 defeat against Inter. The review team supported the decision not to award Mario Hermoso a penalty after the ball struck Manuel Akanji’s elbow while his arm remained close to his body.
VAR also allowed Lautaro Martínez’s goal to stand after determining that Marcus Thuram’s contact with Rensch during the buildup was insufficient to constitute a foul.
Roma seek ninth consecutive Serie A victory
Roma will arrive in Turin attempting to record a ninth consecutive league victory under Gasperini.
The coach recently joined Roma history with eight straight Serie A wins following the dramatic victory over Atalanta.
Away support could be limited after ticket sales were prohibited for residents of Rome. The club is reportedly preparing an appeal against that decision.
Before returning to domestic action, the Giallorossi must navigate Thursday’s Champions League opener in Istanbul, where approximately 2,300 Roma supporters are expected.
