Wesley continues to attract interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid reportedly monitoring the Roma wing-back.
According to reports emerging from Turkey, scouts representing both clubs attended Roma’s 1-1 draw with Fenerbahçe at the Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium on Thursday evening.
The report should be treated with caution at this stage, as neither club has made its interest public. However, Wesley’s performances since arriving in the Italian capital have reportedly placed him on the radar of clubs across Europe.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid watch Wesley in Istanbul
Wesley started on the left side of Gian Piero Gasperini’s midfield during Roma’s Champions League draw with Fenerbahçe.
The Brazilian did not produce his most convincing performance in Istanbul and was replaced by Nahuel Molina during the second half. That reportedly did not prevent Arsenal and Atletico Madrid from using the European fixture as another opportunity to assess him.
His athleticism, ability to cover the entire flank and potential for further development make him an interesting profile for clubs searching for a modern wing-back.
Could Arsenal or Atletico Madrid move in January?
The Turkish reports suggest Arsenal and Atletico Madrid could approach Roma during the January transfer window to determine whether an agreement would be possible.
Roma, however, are not believed to be interested in selling Wesley midway through the season. Gasperini considers him an important part of his system, while his ability to operate on either flank gives the coach additional tactical flexibility.
The Giallorossi would reportedly demand at least €60 million before considering a sale. That valuation also reflects Roma’s reported decision to reject previous interest from Chelsea.
Wesley’s growing international profile could strengthen the club’s position further. The 23-year-old was recently called up by Brazil for friendlies against Australia and India, giving him another opportunity to attract attention on the international stage.
For now, there is no indication that formal negotiations have begun. Wesley remains central to Roma’s plans, but continued interest from major European clubs ensures his future will be closely followed ahead of January.
