Roma maintained their perfect start to the Serie A season with a hard-earned 2-0 victory over Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Donyell Malen scored his sixth league goal of the campaign in the 40th minute before Niccolò Pisilli sealed the result during stoppage time. Gianluca Mancini played a crucial role in both goals, while Leonardo Balerdi impressed on his first start for the club.

Mile Svilar — 8
Had relatively little to do during Roma’s controlled first half but delivered when Torino threatened after the break. His one-on-one save was another demonstration of his outstanding ability in those situations and preserved Roma’s lead at a critical moment.
Gianluca Mancini — 8.5
Roma Daily Player of the Match. Mancini’s aggression created both goals. He stepped into midfield to recover possession before Dybala released Malen for the opener, then won the ball near the corner and helped construct Pisilli’s stoppage-time strike. A decisive performance.
Leonardo Balerdi — 8
An encouraging first Roma start. Balerdi’s pace allowed him to recover and stop a dangerous Torino breakaway, while his physicality and willingness to defend forward suited Gasperini’s approach. The coach later offered enormous praise for Balerdi’s qualities.
Mario Hermoso — 7
Continued his strong run of form. Defended assertively and repeatedly moved forward to support Roma’s buildup. His excellent early delivery should have resulted in a Malen goal.
Emanuele Lulli — 7.5
Another fearless performance from the academy graduate. Lulli attacked his opponent, produced an excellent nutmeg and drove a dangerous ball across the six-yard box. He continues to look like a genuine first-team wing-back rather than a temporary solution.
Bryan Cristante — 6.5
Helped Roma settle after Torino’s aggressive opening and provided structure in midfield. He was not always sharp in possession, but his positioning and experience were valuable alongside Pisilli.
Niccolò Pisilli — 7.5
Rewarded Gasperini’s confidence with the emphatic 93rd-minute goal that ended the contest. Covered plenty of ground alongside Cristante and continued working despite suffering from cramp. Pisilli later explained why he could not properly celebrate.
Nahuel Molina — 6.5
Playing on the left did not always appear natural, and his crossing suffered when forced onto his weaker foot. He nearly scored a spectacular goal after controlling Malen’s clever flick on his chest and volleying narrowly over the crossbar.
Paulo Dybala — 7.5
Roma’s creative reference point. His passing repeatedly opened Torino’s defence, even if some opportunities were wasted. He released Malen for the opening goal, although the action did not result in an official assist. Roma remain a more dangerous team whenever Dybala receives the ball between the lines.
Matias Soulé — 6.5
Worked hard but struggled to influence the attack consistently from the left. He naturally wants to move onto his stronger left foot from the opposite side, and the positional compromise reduced his effectiveness in decisive areas.
Donyell Malen — 8
Missed an early header and failed to control another promising pass, but he refused to be discouraged. His determined finish gave Roma the lead and took him to six goals in four league matches. Malen has now matched Francesco Totti’s remarkable scoring start.

Santiago Castro — 6
Replaced Malen and attempted to bring his usual aggression to the attack. Roma’s buildup became less structured during the second half, leaving the striker with limited service.
Rodrigo Mora — 6
Introduced alongside Castro but struggled to find space as the match became increasingly disjointed. Showed flashes of movement without producing a decisive final action.
Marten de Roon — 7
Made several intelligent interceptions and brought composure to Roma’s midfield during a difficult period. His positioning helped the Giallorossi regain some control before the second goal.
Gian Piero Gasperini — 7.5
Rotated his team after the trip to Istanbul, leaving Evan Ndicka, Manu Koné and Wesley out of the starting lineup. Roma were not at their fluid best, especially during a sloppy second half, but Gasperini’s side defended when required and found a way to win.
Four victories from four and nine consecutive Serie A wins represent an exceptional return. The next test against Inter will reveal even more about Roma’s development.

Malen scored the opener, Pisilli sealed the result and Svilar produced the most important save—but Mancini influenced both goals.
His aggressive recovery in midfield initiated the first, while his determination near the corner created the second. It was a performance that embodied the mentality of Gasperini’s Roma.
