Rodrigo Mora playing for Roma

Roma’s Rodrigo Mora called up to Portugal senior squad

Rodrigo Mora has been named in Portugal’s senior squad for the upcoming international fixtures, earning recognition as he continues to establish himself at Roma.

The call-up gives the young attacker an opportunity to take his club progress onto the international stage after a busy spell under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Portugal call follows growing role at Roma

Mora has taken on greater responsibility during Roma’s recent run of matches, with injuries reducing Gasperini’s attacking options.

He supplied the assist for Malen’s goal against Real Madrid and later scored in the 4–2 victory over Cagliari. His selection for Portugal adds another encouraging moment to a period in which he has shown more of what he can offer in the final third.

Gasperini has repeatedly praised the youngster’s technical ability while stressing that he still has room to develop physically. Speaking ahead of the Slovan Bratislava match, the Roma coach made clear that Mora was already part of his regular rotation.

International opportunity after Sassuolo

Roma host Sassuolo on Saturday in their final match before the international break, after which Mora will have the chance to join up with Portugal’s senior group.

For the Giallorossi, his inclusion is further recognition of a young player becoming increasingly involved in Gasperini’s side.
